as some of you know, I passed my Communicationsdesign Studies at february this year. Then I worked a few months more on my Bachelorwork, the animated short Film 'Sleeping Lullaby 2', because I wasn't happy with the early result. Now I'm working on a few commissions and look for a job.
One of the companies I applied, sent me a declining. But the good thing was: the guy who sent it to me wrote in the last sentence 'if you have any further questions, feel free to message me'. Phone number at the end, so I thought 'yeah, I want to learn and I want advance myself. So why not?' So I called the man.
Just to get that right: they didn't declined me, cause I'm not on Facebook
Thing was rather, my style didn't matched the companies style. But in a subclause he said something interesting: 'Also I couldn't find you on WhatsApp'.
Holy mackerel, I don't have WhatsApp at all. I even don't own a Smartphone! I use a very reliable ten year old Mobile. Old, but reliable. There is nothing with Apps and Google and YouTube. Just me and the partner I talk or write with. Also I'm not on Facebook or Twitter. Since the Facebook Hype came and gone I resisted these platforms, because they were not interesting for me. I just want to work on my or on someones else stuff. When a project is done, I have no desire for uploading and sharing it. I just want to go on and work on the next project. That's why DeviantArt and the german site Animexx were enough for me all these years. Till now.
But now I had to see that potential employers think, they didn't see enough of me, when they didn't find me on platforms like Facebook. So I have no choice and since half of an hour I am a member of FB - and I feel like I ascended the scaffold
So, if you are on Facebook, too, and you would like to follow me on my hard and stony way through the remorseless world of Mark Zuckerberg, here we go:www.facebook.com/artofkevinsco…
